Gerald Jerome "Jerry" Scherer, 82, of Portageville, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026. He was born on August 14, 1943 in Portageville to the late Jim and Nora Brands Scherer.

Jerry was united in marriage to Paula Richardson on October 22, 1966 in Portageville. She survives of the home. They were blessed with 59 years of marriage.

Jerry was a life-long member of the St. Eustachius Catholic Church. His Catholic faith was the cornerstone of his life.

Jerry was retired from MODOT. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, canning his garden vegetables and his time spent visiting with his good friends at Katie's Diner. What Jerry cherished most was his time spent with his family, especially his wife, sons, grandchildren, siblings and his many nieces and nephews. Jerry was met in heaven by his beloved grandson, Brady Cole Scherer, whom he loved dearly and also by his parents and his sister, Carol Jean Hulshof.

Jerry leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Paula, his sons Chris (Laurie) Scherer of Portageville and Allan (Christy) Scherer of Titusville, Florida. He was affectionately known as "Paw" by his grandchildren. He was blessed with six of them; Brady, Jayse, Cenzey, Corey, Courtney and Cambrey. He is also survived by his siblings, Loretta (late Kelly) Kellams of Portageville, MO, Jimmy (late Marcia) Scherer of Oran, MO and Pat (Clara) Scherer of Portageville, MO.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville, MO. Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Eustachius Catholic Church, Portageville, MO.

Pallbearers will be his nephews: Steve Kellams, Mike Kellams, Bo Scherer, Gilbert Scherer, Todd Scherer, Travis Scherer and Danny Scherer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Monk Warren, Dick Atwill, Norman VanAmburg, Sam Pikey, David Klipfel, Johnny Klipfel, Rod Starnes and a host of other lifelong friends.
