Gerald A. Stager

Gerald A Stager, age 89, of Sylvania, OH, passed away on January 27, 2026, at Toledo Hospital. He was born in Toledo, OH, to John and Helen (Little) Stager, on July 29, 1936.

Jerry married Patricia Howell on November 17, 1956, and together raised their 5 children. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage until she preceded him in death in 2009. He married Carol Howell King in 2012.

Jerry served in the United States Marines for eight years. Jerry started to work as a brakeman and conductor for Conrail Railroad at the age of 17, in 1954, retiring in 1999.

After retirement, Jerry built a house on Candlewood Lake in southern Ohio and enjoyed boating and giving his wife a hard time. He enjoyed time with his family, especially watching the little ones. Jerry never met anyone that wasn't a friend.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Laura (Mark) Keller, Rick (Laurie), Mike (Cindy), Dan (Karin) and Tim (Mary); grandchildren, Adam, Michael, Benjamin (Brandi), Gretchen, Chelsea, Cody (Abbey), Connor (Sarah), Miles and Elizabeth; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 1 great-great-great-grandchild; sister, Kathy Gillespie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol (Gordon) Cummings; and brother-in-law, Dave Gillespie.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. until the service begins at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to The First Christian Church or Alzheimer's Association. Online Condolences to
