Geraldine A. Acosta, age 86, of Wadsworth, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was the cherished mother of Joseph Benesh (Kim), Bonnie Benesh, Anthony Benesh, Guy Benesh, John Acosta, and Angela Andrews (John). Beloved grandmother of Amy Pool (Dan) and Joseph Benesh, and great-grandmother of Hayley and Dylan Pool. She was also a cherished sister of Mary "Kay" Howe (Richard, dec) and loved by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Geri was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Catherine Kerr, and her siblings: Patricia Hanford (Ronald), Robert Kerr (Katherine), and Barbara Hach (Melvin).
Geri had a deep love for animals and raised German Shepherds for many years. She also enjoyed refurbishing furniture, working with her hands, and engaging in crafting. For the past 23 years, she lived independently at National Church Residences, where she became an integral part of the community. She decorated the building for every holiday, maintained beautiful gardens, and hosted many potluck dinners for the many residents she considered friends. Geri never attended a party without bringing one of her delicious desserts.
Known for her generous spirit, Geri was always there to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed a favor. She found great joy in being a part of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, where she attended Sunday Mass, became an acolyte, and led the praying of the rosary, which brought her closer to God.
Geri will be remembered for her love of family, her generosity, her bright smile, and her keen fashion sense.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 260 Broad Street, Wadsworth, Ohio 44281. Geri's Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately at 11:00 AM.
