Geraldine Shirley Barber

Geraldine Shirley Barber, lovingly known as "Granny", passed away on Saturday, August 16th, 2025 at the age of 90 at home, surrounded by her family. Geri was born in Whitwell, TN to the late Walter and Ada Mae Holloway Grayson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barber was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Barber; one daughter, Phyllis Long; one son-in-law, Bruce Hardaway; and one great-grandson, Garrett Long. She is survived by two daughters, Vickie Owens (Dale); and Kathy Hardaway; one son-in-law, Barry Long; five grandchildren, Shannon Long (Laura), Nathan Long (Rebecca), Kevin Duke (Brandy), Nolan Hardaway, and Summer Monroe (Tim); ten great-grandchildren, Maison, Brayden, Carson, Maebry, Mackenzie Lee, Emersyn, Everett, Ensley, Olivia, and Jacob; four great-great-grandchildren, Hunter, Liam, Peyton, and Thackery; one brother, David Grayson; and two very special family friends, Kevin Harris, and Dr. Sam Ingram. Visitation for Mrs. Barber will be held on Tuesday, August 19th, 2025 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow in the Kilgore Funeral Home chapel at 1:00pm with Bro. Jeff Rasnick officiating. Burial will follow at Lynchburg City Cemetery with Shannon Long, Nathan Long, Kevin Duke, Maison Long, Brayden Long, and Carson Long serving as pallbearers, and Nolan Hardaway and Kevin Harris acting as honorary pallbearers.
