Geraldine "Gerry" Carpenter, 91, of Plainfield, passed away on January 20, 2024 surrounded by loving family members. She was born on August 6, 1932 in Red Boiling Springs, TN to the late Clelen and Bonnie Carver. Gerry received her Bachelor's from Lipscomb University and her Master's from Butler University in Education. She was a Home Economics teacher for Ben Davis Jr. High School for many years. Gerry was a faithful longtime member of the Belleville Church Of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and taking care of her animals, which included chickens and geese. Gerry was a dedicated homemaker and cared for many others besides her family. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Gerry was preceded in death by a son, Charles A. "Andy" Carpenter and her sister, Neva Genell Taglauer. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home where friends may visit from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include her loving husband, Charles A. Carpenter; son, Bruce (Shawn) Carpenter; daughter in law, Patty Carpenter Goodman; grandchildren, Tara (Kirkland) Neal, Amanda (Kendrick) Davis, Caleb (Erin) Carpenter, Cayla (Ryan) Stroud and Lauren (Darrick) Wiatt; 14 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren.
