Geraldine Duke Freeman
Born in Oak Level, Alabama, on November 9, 1937. Died January 14, 2025, at the age of 87.
Jerry is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Thomas “Jack” Freeman, mother and father, Altie and Clifford Duke, brother, Buddy Duke, and sister, Louise Drummond.
She is survived by her children: Ricky (Debra) Freeman, Vicki (Ron) Akers, brother, Horace Duke, and sister-in-law, Elsie Garmon, grandchildren: Hollie (Patrick) Taylor, Britt Akers, Brad (Lana) Freeman, and Andrea (Jason) Allen, ten great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jerry was born in the Oak Level community of Cullman County, Alabama, and grew up in the Welti community. She graduated from Holly Pond High School in 1954. She married Jack Freeman on April 2, 1955.
Jerry raised two children as a working mother. She was employed at the King Edward Cigar Plant in Cullman, Alabama, soon after its opening in 1955 until the plant finally closed in 1982. She then worked various jobs, and her last employer was Dunn Right Taxes, before retiring at the age of 78. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Jerry attended Oak Level Church for many years and loved her church and church family.
Pallbearers are Brad Freeman, Zander Freeman, Kort Freeman, Anthony Mullett, Cody McGriff, and Brody Harris.
Services will be held at Oak Level Baptist Church on Sunday, January 19th. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church with the funeral starting at 2:00 p.m.
