Geraldine Mason, 87, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. A funeral mass will be held at 10am, Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at St. Thoms the Apostle Catholic Church. The family will receive friends for a visitation and rosary from 5-7pm, Monday, August 11, 2025, at LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road chapel.
Geraldine Mason was born on August 10, 1937, in Staten Island, New York, to Carl Adolf Geffken and Sarah Elizabeth Kaine. On May 13, 1972, she married the love of her life, Wilbur Mason, and together they shared 53 beautiful years of marriage. Geraldine had a strong work ethic and a warm spirit. She spent a decade as the jewelry department manager at Walmart and later served as the cafeteria manager at St. Joseph's Catholic School for seven years, where she was beloved by students and staff alike. A talented and creative soul, Geraldine had a lifelong passion for knitting and sewing. Her hands were rarely still—whether she was making blankets, sweaters, or festive Christmas decorations, or lovingly sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren. These handcrafted treasures are a lasting legacy of her care and devotion. She loved preparing big family meals that brought everyone together—none more memorable than her famous Swedish meatballs, a dish that will be fondly remembered by all who gathered at her table. An avid reader, Geraldine especially enjoyed classic romance novels, often getting lost in their timeless charm. She had a gift for making others feel welcome, always offering a kind ear and a comforting presence to anyone in need. She was a long-time member of St. Thomas Apostolic Catholic Church for 20 years. Geraldine will be missed greatly.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; her great-grandsons, Bryson Lee Waldhelm and Colton Jack Vaughn.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are her husband, Wilbur Mason; her children, Mark Kaiser, Scott Mason and wife, Glenda, Paul Mason and wife, Johanna, Dawn Waldhelm and Amanda Mason; her step-daughters, Wilma Louise Mason and Cheryl Denise Mason; her grandchildren, Michael Joseph Mason and Michelle Lynn White; her great-grandchildren, Clayton Michael Vaughn, Claire Mason, Fisher Mason, Adam Mason, Hunter Bryson White, Kaleb Charles White, Jaxon Cole White, Bailey Marie George, Conner Wayne Morris, Bailey Elizabeth Mason, Vanessa Ann Waldhelm and Zoey Maddison Mason and her great-great-grandchild, Kaavion Joseph George.
