Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home - TremontonGeraldine (Gerry) Dunn Mattinson passed away from complications of ALS disease on March 26, 2026. She was surrounded by loved ones at her home in Thatcher, Utah. She was born on September 30, 1944, in Salt Lake City Utah to Leona Mae and Gerald Ardean Dunn.
She married John Robert “Bob” Mattinson on May 11, 1964. They had four children who they primarily raised in Draper and later Vernal Utah. After retirement, Bob and Gerry made their home in Monroe, Utah until moving to Tremonton, Utah in 2015. Gerry was an avid gardener, could work most anyone into the ground, loved crafting and above all was a loving wife and mother. She created beautiful spaces around her and was truly gifted at helping others feel loved and accepted. No sacrifice was ever too big for Gerry to make to ensure that those she loved had the best support and care.
Bob and Gerry were sealed with their children in the Salt Lake City Utah temple on May 11, 1977. Gerry had a strong testimony of her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. She served faithfully in her church callings throughout her life, most recently as a service missionary at the Brigham City Distribution Center. Gerry was always willing to be the Lord’s hands on the earth caring for and blessing the lives of everyone around her.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Robert “Bob” Mattinson, parents, siblings: Tamara Jean, Jared Lee, and James “Jim” Laroy, and by a great-granddaughter, Kashlynn Chase Mattinson. Gerry is survived by her sister Jonna Steele, her brother Jack Dunn, her children, J Robert (Laurie) Mattinson, Mischell (Norm) Bendtsen, Rodney (Cyndie) Mattinson, and Joseph Richard “Rick” (Karla) Mattinson, 15 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
