Elaine Mattinson

Elaine LaHaie Mattinson, 93 of Davison, formerly of Reese passed away peacefully in Davison, MI surrounded by her loving family. Elaine was born on February 15, 1932, in Saginaw, MI, daughter of the late Lela and Cletus Premo. Elaine graduated from Arthur Hill High School, in 1950. She furthered her education at Saginaw Valley State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in education. On March 31, 1951, she married the love of her life Robert LaHaie, who preceded her in death. Her passion for education led her to a career teaching at St. Elizabeth School in Reese, MI, where she touched the lives of many students.

She was a long-time member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Elaine lived her faith through her actions and words. She loved reading and spending time with her family. Elaine later married Walter Mattinson on July 3, 2003, who also preceded her in death.

Surviving are her beloved children; Gary & Karen LaHaie, Darlene & Greg Frank, Denise Harry, Cheryl & Mark Windy, Matthew & Stacy LaHaie, and Linda & Les Amon. Elaine's sister, Dorothy Gosko, also survives her. She had 18 grandchildren, Elaine also had 30 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and spouses, Elaine was preceded in death by her son, Mark LaHaie and grandson, Brian Frank.

The Funeral Liturgy for Elaine will be celebrated at 11:30 am Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. Father Dieudonne Ntakarutimana will officiate with private family committal services to take place later in the St. Andrews Cemetery. Elaine's family will receive friends at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral home in Reese on Tuesday August 26, 2025, from 3-7 pm and at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the Liturgy. A Rosary will be prayed at 7pm on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Covenant House New York or Tuscola County Animal Shelter
