Carl Buetow

Carl Frederick Buetow 87, of Richville, died early Saturday morning, August 9, 2025, at Covenant Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born October 3, 1937, in Saginaw, MI, son of the late Carl and Ruth (Sigelko) Buetow. A graduate of Vassar High School's class of 1955, Carl was active in Future Farmers of America and held the school record for the mile run. On July 27, 1958, he was married to the former Sylvia Raedeke of Amelith, Bay City. She preceded him in death in 2023. Carl was employed for many years at the Carling Brewing Company in Frankenmuth and later was employed by Consumers Power. Carl always had a passion for farming, beginning as a young child on his family's Centennial farm. He was also a faithful lifelong member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church.

Carl's love for tractors, both full-sized and miniature, was well known. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors, buying, selling, customizing, and collecting miniature tractors. Carl also enjoyed building clocks, wood working and gardening. Carl was an avid sports fan, following the Detroit Lions, the Detroit Tigers and multiple college teams.

Surviving are his five sons and their spouses, Howard (Stephanie) Buetow of Clio; Paul (Ana Cristina Avelino) Buetow of Fenton; Phil (Karen) Buetow and Bob (Kay) Buetow, all of Reese; and David (Kelly) Buetow of Grand Blanc; seventeen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Lynne (Jack Gillig) Bieberitz and Elaine (Robert) Bouvy.

Funeral Services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Richville. Reverend Wesley Gillaspie and Reverend Keith Knea will co-officiate with Committal Services to follow in the St. Michael's Cemetery. Carl's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw Street in Reese on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. and at the St. Michael's Lutheran Church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Michael's Lutheran Church or the donor's favorite charity.
