Jack Weihl Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors - Reese Chapel on Mar. 29, 2026.
Jack D. Weihl, 85, of Saginaw and formerly of Richville, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at New Hope Bay in Bay City. He was born in Cass City on June 24, 1940, the son of the late Homer and Sylvia (Ross) Weihl. Jack lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, faithful service, and a warm spirit that touched many throughout the years.

Jack graduated from Reese High School and went on to build a career as a skilled Tool and Die maker. He was employed at D & J Tool and Ranger Tool before later opening his own company, Richville Tool. Through his work, Jack earned the respect of those around him for his strong work ethic. He took great pride in his trade and in the business.

On August 24, 1963, Jack married the love of his life, the former Virginia Kuck, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese. Together they shared more than six decades of marriage and were blessed with three children. Their life together was built on love, commitment, and the many joys of raising a family. Jack treasured his role as husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his family was the center of his world.

Jack was also deeply committed to serving others. He volunteered for more than 40 years with the Richville Fire Department and later with the Blumfield Fire Department, serving many of those years as chief. His dedication to fire service reflected his courage, leadership, and willingness to help others in times of need. Jack also proudly served his country in the Army and the National Guard, answering the call to duty with honor and pride.

In his free time, Jack enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, and he found great enjoyment in spending time outside. He also liked fixing bikes, a pastime that reflected both his mechanical skill and his generous nature. A good game of euchre was always welcome, especially when shared with family and friends.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia; his children, Janet and special friend Brandon Hetzner, Wayne and Jodi Weihl, and Dennis and Penny Weihl; his eight grandchildren, Steven and Beccah Billmeier, Casey and Caleb Maximovich, Carley and Mike Zitkewitz, Lakeyn Humpert, Makenzie and Dustin McConnell, Jordyn and Dominick Hartman, and Katisha Nantell; and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Kosal; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Weihl; and his brother-in-law, Glen and Cynde Kuck. Jack will be remembered with love by his extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings, Herbert Weihl, Richard Kosal, Beverley and Jim Schlattman, Phylis and Emerson Davis, Noel Weihl, Tim and Sue Weihl, and Ruth Hall. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at New Hope Bay and the Transitions hospice team for their compassionate care over the years. Their kindness and support were deeply appreciated and brought comfort to Jack and his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese, Michigan. Visitation at the church will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Pastor Daniel Burhop will officiate, and burial will take place in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, where Jack will be laid to rest.

All of us at Ware Smith Woolever are honored the Weihl family has entrusted us with the care of their loved one.
