Geraldine McKiddy Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 27, 2026.
Geraldine Elizabeth McKiddy
January 24, 1940 – March 24, 2026

Geraldine Elizabeth "Gerri" McKiddy, age 86, of Arlington, Texas, peacefully entered the arms of the God she loved on March 24, 2026.

Gerri was born on January 24, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, to Joseph Weldon Thompson and Martha Louise Carter. She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Jerry McKiddy; her sons, Ronnie McKiddy and Steven McKiddy; her daughter, Julie McManis; and her daughter-in-law, Barbara McKiddy. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Matthew McKiddy, Jason McKiddy, Sarah Reznicek, and John McKiddy; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to count. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jared McKiddy, and her daughter-in-law, Deavin McKiddy, who now rejoice with her in heaven.

Gerri began attending Cedar Temple Baptist Church in Oak Cliff as a young girl. It was there that she found the two greatest loves of her life-Jerry McKiddy and her Savior, Jesus Christ. She gave her heart to Christ at the age of 12 and remained steadfast in her faith for the rest of her life. Gerri and Jerry were married at Cedar Temple in 1956.

In 1957, Gerri embraced one of her greatest callings-motherhood. Her devotion to her children was steadfast, unwavering, and, when necessary, fiercely protective. Loving her family came naturally and wholeheartedly.

Gerri enjoyed a long career as a bookkeeper, but her life's true ministry unfolded alongside her husband when he answered God's call to serve. As a pastor's wife, she faithfully supported and served the congregations of Arcadia Park Baptist Church and Ferndale Baptist Church in Oak Cliff for many years.

Gerri was a bright and steady light in the lives of all who knew her. Her strength anchored her family, and her warmth made everyone feel deeply loved. Even in her final days, her doctors and caregivers knew her fondly as "Miss Gerri," and many lovingly called her "Mama." She was, indeed, a mother to all.

Her children count themselves blessed beyond measure to have been loved by her.

A service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, March 31, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Grand Prairie, with visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.
