Wade Funeral Home & Crematory - ArlingtonHanny Hildegard Buechele, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, in Arlington, Texas, at the age of 90. Born on March 12, 1936, in Zug, Switzerland, Hanny lived a beautiful life marked by faith, service, creativity, and deep love for her family.
Hanny was a woman of many gifts and quiet strength. She loved gardening and being outdoors, and she found joy in the beauty of God's creation. She was also wonderfully talented with her hands, spending countless hours sewing, knitting, and creating thoughtful items for those she loved. She knitted slippers, headbands, and beanies, and lovingly made scarves for the homeless and blankets for babies. Whether in the kitchen baking cookies and pastries or sitting with her knitting needles in hand, Hanny had a special way of making a house feel like home.
She was known for being proper, yet she also had a wonderful sense of humor that endeared her to so many. Hanny had a knack for making friends wherever she went and truly loved visiting and talking with those around her. She had a servant's heart and consistently put others before herself, always looking for ways to help those in need.
Hanny was a devoted parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she was involved in the knitting club and faithfully lived out her love for others. She also stayed active through Silver Sneakers, YMCA yoga, and the many activities that kept her moving and engaged. Her giving spirit extended into the Arlington community through her volunteer work with Mission Arlington's food bank and Nu2U Resale, where she joyfully served others.
One of the great loves of Hanny's life was music. She sang with the Swiss Singing Society and had the special honor of participating in the opening ceremonies of the 1984 Olympics. Alongside her beloved husband, Hans, she traveled the country singing, creating treasured memories through music and companionship. Hanny and Hans were married on August 13, 1960, and shared a beautiful life together. She cared for him with great devotion during his battle with cancer, reflecting once again her selfless nature and unwavering love.
Hanny also cherished the outdoors and adventure. She especially enjoyed snowshoeing with Hans in the California mountains. She was active, energetic, and engaged in life. She was also a loyal sports fan who loved watching her children and grandchildren play through the years, and she was a big Texas Rangers fan. Among the many things her family will always remember is one of her favorite sayings: "Keep it simple."
Family was the center of Hanny's world. Christmas Eve was a particularly special and memorable tradition, bringing the family together in celebration and love. She adored having her grandchildren around and treasured every moment spent with them.
Hanny was preceded in death by her husband, Hans Buechele.
She is survived by her sons, Steve Buechele and wife Nancy, Mark Buechele and wife Jennifer, and Eric Buechele and wife Becca; her grandchildren, Garret Buechele and wife Suzy, Tanner Buechele and wife Kenzie, Jordan Becker and husband Aaron, Amber Dondero and husband Danny, Shane Buechele and wife Paige, Emily, Dylan, Conner, and Brendan; and her great-grandchildren, Bryce, Hudson, Addison, Josh, Bowen, and Blaize.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mission Arlington, a cause close to Hanny's heart.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 8th, at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with a small reception to follow.
Hanny will be remembered for her faith, kindness, humor, generosity, and the steady love she gave so freely. Her life was a beautiful example of service, devotion, and grace, and her memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
