Geraldine Betty Shoemaker, age 100, of Laceyville, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 21, 2026, at the Embassy of Tunkhannock.
Geraldine was born on April 4, 1925, to the late Maysie Emmons in Springville, PA.
She would marry the late Harry H. Shoemaker (d. June 17, 1955) on October 4, 1941, and after his passing, she raised her six children. Once her kids were old enough, Geraldine would work as a housekeeper at the Frystak Hotel in Wyalusing, PA, and at the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Factory in Mildred, PA, and the Meshoppen Dress Factory in Meshoppen, PA.
Over the years, Geraldine would take up many hobbies, including a love of music and dancing, especially square dancing. She also enjoyed taking motorcycle trips with her significant other, Frank Walter. She and Frank would also take up many hunting and fishing trips throughout the years.
Geraldine is survived by her significant other Frank Walter of Laceyville, PA; her sons, Harry Shoemaker of New Albany, PA and Richard (Bobbi) Shoemaker of New Albany, PA; her daughters Diane Merritt of Wyalusing, PA, Carol Gacha of Tunkhannock, PA, and Mary Hall of Laceyville, PA; along with numerus grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, whom she all loved dearly.
Besides her parents and her husband, Geraldine is preceded in death by; her daughter, Marge Wisecarver (d. September 17, 2025); her daughter-in-law, Darlene Shoemaker (d. July 16, 2008); her son-in-law, Roy-Bob Hall Sr. (d. January 19, 2005), Walter “Sparky” Merritt (d. March 18, 2019), Wayne Wisecarver (d. February 27, 2020) and Donald Gacha (d. June 16, 2024); her grandchildren, Kelly Hall and Randy Hall (d. November 5, 2023).
A private family funeral for Geraldine will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at the Overfield Cemetery Meshoppen, PA.
