Geraldine M. Woomer (Shewan), 81, of Girard, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at UPMC Hamot.
She was born own October 26, 1943, in St Marys, Pa and later adopted by Gerald and Adeline (Geiger) Shewan.
Geraldine was a 1961 graduate of McDowell High School. She began her career at St. Vincent's Hospital, where she worked as a ward clerk for several years. Later, she pursued her passion for cosmetology, attending cosmetology school and earning her certification. She later got married to Richard Woomer and became an amazing mother who stayed home raising her daughter until she was old enough to go to school. She entered back into the work force where she worked at Greenbriar Industries in Lake City for many years in quality control.
Family was at the heart of Geraldine's life. She cherished spending quality time with her loved ones and created countless treasured memories. She especially enjoyed going on car rides and visiting Dairy Oasis with her daughter, Julie Woomer. Dining out with family and taking trips back to Benezette, PA to see the majestic elk were among her favorite pastimes. Geraldine's warm spirit, and love for simple pleasures left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Shewan.
She leaves behind a loving family who will miss her deeply, including her devoted daughter, Julie Woomer; her sister, Judith Vogel (Dennis); her brother, Thomas Shewan (Ivette); and Abigail Kelly, who lovingly called her "Grandma Gerry." Geraldine's kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family will forever remain in their hearts.
Per Geraldine's wishes, services will be held privately to honor her memory.
