Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartwright Funeral Home - Randolph on Dec. 27, 2025.
Gerard T. Walsh, of Randolph, formerly of Quincy, known affectionately to friends and family as Gerry, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. Born in
Quincy, Massachusetts, on December 2, 1947, to the late John and Alice Walsh, Gerry lived a life marked by love, kindness, and creativity. He was the beloved partner of Tony Marcasciano, a loving father to Donald Walsh and his wife Sandi of Florida, Christopher Walsh and his wife Kathy of Rockland, and a devoted brother to the late John Walsh and the late Nancy Long, survived by her husband Edward Long of Weymouth. Gerry was also the grandfather of Jillian Hilton of New Hampshire.
Gerry's life was a tapestry of close familial bonds, as he was a cherished cousin to Marjorie Walsh-Baschieri and her husband Nino of Avon, Carrol Redden and her husband John of Scituate, Susan Walsh and her husband Norman of Norwood, and Elizabeth Pardo and her husband Lawrence of Carver. His warmth and compassion also extended to his many nieces, nephews, and close friends, all of whom found in him a generous heart and an unwavering support system.
A proud graduate of Quincy High School, Gerry continued his education at the University of Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree. His professional life was dedicated to serving the public as an investigator for the Fraud Department of Medicare for over 35 years. His commitment to integrity and justice was evident in his work, and his colleagues respected him for his tenacity and fair-mindedness.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Gerry was passionate about his interests and hobbies. He was an avid dog lover and the proud owner of Pineterri Kennels in Randolph, where he bred Australian Terriers. As a testament to his dedication and skill, many of his dogs achieved championship status under his guidance. Gerry's love for nature was profound, and he was an advocate for environmental conservation, often finding solace in the beauty of the natural world. His artistic soul found expression in painting, where he created works that reflected his eye for beauty and his imaginative spirit.
Gerry's zest for life was further exemplified by his love of dining out at restaurants, visiting casinos, and being an enthusiastic supporter of Boston sports teams, particularly the Red Sox and the Patriots. He relished the camaraderie and excitement of cheering on his teams, sharing those moments with friends and family alike.
Above all, Gerry cherished the time he spent with his loved ones. His presence at family gatherings was a source of joy and laughter, and his kindness and creative spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Gerry's legacy is one of love, generosity, and the enduring bonds of family and friendship. As we remember Gerry, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life that touched so many with its light and warmth.
