Gerardo Bretal Obituary

Born in Corrubedo, Spain, the son of the late Gerardo and Ramona Marino Bretal, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Gerardo was a retired fishing captain, who owned and operated the F/V Crown Royal and F/V Chivas Regal.
He is survived by his children, Mildred Bretal-Paiva and her partner Michael Paiva, and Yancy Bretal; his siblings, Teresa Bretal Marino and her husband Juan Martinez, Ramona Contreras, and Juan Manuel Bretal; his daughter-in-law, Judith Vega; his sister-in-law, Ofelia Bretal; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Gerald Bretal and his brother, Jose Bretal.
His funeral will be held on Friday June 16th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church at 10 AM. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven. Visiting hours will be on Thursday June 15th from 4-8 PM. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
