Age 96, of Webster, NY, passed away on May 3, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
She was born on February 8, 1929 in Nunda, NY, daughter of the late Henry and Florence Borgus Willey. After attending high school, Gertrude received a degree in cosmetology. She worked at Mallory Timers in Warsaw for twenty-two years. Gertrude enjoyed birding, reading, knitting, and was an avid gardener. She particularly enjoyed traveling to national parks in Montana, Hawai’i, Alaska and Maine.
She is predeceased by her husband, Willis Caryl; her brothers, Kenneth and Elmer.
Gertrude is survived by her children, Norman (Sandy) Caryl, Jean Hall, Kathy Johnson, Tom (Alex) Caryl, Judy Bentley, Chuck Caryl; her grand-children, Matt (Sarah) Caryl, Melissa Caryl, Jeff Hall, Brandon Hall, Megan(Robert) Vennard, Lynne Johnson, Erin Johnson, Caryl(Devin Sherwood), Denae Caryl; her great-grandchildren, Zach, Aidan, Elizabeth, Ryan, Nicholas, Cole, Zoey, Jaidan, Zeke, Kayden; her sister, Joanne Kelly; her special cheese buddy, River; her family-by-choice, Mary and Craig Vella, Steve and Tammy Ferris.
Friends may call on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. No service will be held for Gertrude. Private burial will be made at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in her memory to Rochester Rotary Camp Sunshine.
