Gertrude M. "Trudy" Jaskiel

Gertrude Mary Jaskiel (née Boron) passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at the remarkable age of 102. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward W. Jaskiel and a devoted mother to Jeffrey (Sandra), Larry (Lynn), Patricia (the late Jeffrey), and Sandra. Trudy was the cherished grandmother of Jeffrey Jr., Joelle (Will), Ryan, Jacob (Isabela), Alyssa (Clay), Nicole (Jason), Cory (Caraline), and Jessie.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 5, 1922, Trudy was the daughter of Jozef and Waleria Boron. She was preceded in death by her siblings Adam, Cecilia, Mitchell, William, Casmiera "Cassie," and Augustine "Gootchie."
Trudy spent much of her professional life working for the City of Warrensville Heights, where she was known for her dedication and integrity. During WWII, Trudy supported the war effort by working to inspect aircraft parts. In her retirement, Trudy embraced her passions. She had a vibrant and creative spirit and often expressed herself through sewing, gardening, and art. A proud member of a local bowling league and an avid fan of Polka music, she brought energy and joy to all her pursuits.
In the kitchen, Trudy's homemade pierogies and stuffed cabbage (pigs in a blanket) were highlights, along with her famous banana bread, which her grandchildren fondly remember as a special treat. Trudy remained independent and active well into her centenarian years, living in her beloved Mentor home until the age of 101.
Her final chapter was supported with grace and kindness by the dedicated staff at Danbury Hudson and CorsoCare Hospice, for which the family is deeply grateful.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, tradition, and resilience. Trudy will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, located at 95 S. Franklin St., Chagrin Falls, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lake County Council on Aging at 8520 East Ave., Mentor, Ohio 44060.
