Gertrude B. Poquette, age 91, of Milford passed away with her loving family by her side on May 17, 2025 at Milford Health and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. Gertrude was born on November 3, 1933 in Alburgh, Vermont, daughter of the late Almira (Valley) and Stanley Paquette. She was a graduate of Alburgh High School and later relocated to Milford, CT to raise her family with her beloved husband Harris Poquette who predeceased her in 1990.
Gertrude enjoyed her many years spent working in retail at Alexander's of Milford until they closed. She then worked until her retirement at the local Bob's Store. She spent her retirement enjoying her home, neighborhood and family, helping with the grandchildren and great grandchildren who relished staying with her at her home by the beach. They developed close relationships with her which continued throughout their lives. She was fortunate that several of her siblings had also moved to Connecticut. They maintained close, loving relationships with daily calls to check on the newspaper jumble and puzzle results until their passings. She also enjoyed a good competitive game of Scrabble which she consistently won. Gertrude was also dedicated to her beloved St. Gabriel's Church (now Saint Raphael's Parish) as an Usher and Eucharistic Minister. She developed many long term friendships there and spent many enjoyable hours with these dear friends throughout the years.
In addition to her husband Harris and her parents, Gertrude was predeceased by her siblings; Sister Margaret Paquette, Marion Lauzon, Lorraine Soule, Donalda Paquette Pauline Paquette, Shirley Paquette, George Paquette, Paul Paquette and Philip Paquette.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughters Marlene Bishop of Shelton and Kathleen (Daniel) Golias of Beacon Falls; grandchildren Bryan (Michelle) Bishop, Daniel Bishop, Autumn O'Donnell and Brett (Kisha) Baker; seven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; her sister Anita Robinson of Titusville, NJ and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to send specials thanks to her niece, Theresa Fedorchek for her devotion and special caring attention over the years.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford.
