Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Trudie A. Mattson, 89, of Plantation, Florida died in her home surrounded by family on June 15, 2024.
Trudie was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 17, 1935. She moved to Lawrence Park, Pennsylvania as a young teenager and attended high school where she met her future husband Raymond. She was married in 1954 and in the following 7 years welcomed 5 children into her family. Another daughter arrived in 1966. As the family grew Trudie and Ray moved 4 times around the Philadelphia area, then to the suburbs outside Boston and finally to Plantation, Florida in 1968. One last child arrived in 1978 completing their family of 3 boys and 4 girls. Trudie believed in family and tradition and shared it with so many. Her empathy and generosity were reflected in how she lived her life. One of her traditions was to gather all of the family together each year for a long weekend together at a beachside resort. In her later years she lived for her grandchildren, all 18 of them, and made each one feel special. She did the same for her 6 great-grandchildren as well.
Trudie was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Raymond Mattson (1933-1999), her son Michael (1955-2019), her son Timothy (1961-1995) and her brother James "Jim" Loomis (Brenda) (1936-2019).
Trudie is survived by her son Stephen Mattson and grandsons Eric, Samuel, Jesse (Morgan); daughter Cathy (Jeff) Stutin along with grandchildren Jack (Alison), Katie; daughter Karen Swanson and grandchildren Ryan, Laura (Adrianna), Jenna (Michael), Thomas; daughter Suzanne Brown and granddaughter Olivia; daughter Stephanie (Filip) Verley along with granddaughters Emma, Maya, Zoey; daughter-in-law Lisa Mattson and grandchildren Christopher, Kevin, Melissa (Justin); daughter-in-law Mary Mattson and grandchildren Cedric (Celia), Rachelle; and great-grandchildren Owen and Tyler (Jack); Madelyn and Violet (Christopher); Jacob and Dylan (Melissa).
