Gil R. Rodriguez

Gil R. Rodriguez, age 88, passed away on May 4, 2025. Gil was born on September 1, 1936, to Maximino and Viviana Rodriguez. He graduated from Orange Grove High School where he played football and was a Golden Glove Boxer. Gil served in the National Guard from 1954 to 1957. He was employed as a welder at BD Holt Caterpillar for over twenty-five years. Gil and his dear departed wife, Diamantina, were married for 67 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, dancing to Tejano, walking, and watching his beloved football team, the Dallas Cowboys. Gil and his dear wife loved to dance and get together with friends. He will always be remembered for his love and devotion to family. Gil was a loving father, son, and brother.
Preceding Gil in eternal rest are his wife Diamantina, his parents Maximino and Viviana Rodriguez, brothers Maximino Rodriguez Jr., Felipe Rodriguez, and Joe Rodriguez, sister Anita Saenz, and his grandson Samuel Carreno Jr.
Gil Rodriguez is survived by his children Sandra Torres (Gene DeLeon Sr.), Velma Alvarez, Gilda Rodriguez, and Brenda Carreno (Sam), grandchildren Sammy Carreno Jr. (deceased), Shastine (Francisco) Rivera, Joseph Jared Alvarez, and Elyanna Rose Carreno, and brother Jesus "Chuy" Rodriguez.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Corpus Christi Funeral Home, 2409 Baldwin Blvd., Corpus Christi, TX. 78405. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3423 Rojo St., Corpus Christi, TX 78415. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
