He will await the resurrection in Beau Pre Cemetery (7705 East Old Spanish Trail) in Jeanerette, LA.
Military Honors will be rendered.
A visitation will be held at Fletcher Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, beginning at 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
Gilbert Bernard was a resident of New Iberia, LA. He transitioned at 5:29 P.M. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from his earthly life to eternal peace.
Gilbert proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
He leaves in God's care a devoted companion, Annie Bell of New Iberia, LA; two sisters, Earline Denais of Abbeville, LA and Mary Lou Romero of New Iberia, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Paul Bernard and Ada Reaux Bernard; four brothers, Polite Bernard, Paul Bernard, Neo Bernard, and Albert Bernard; three sisters, Victoria Bourque, May Blanchard, and Cecile Romero.
Active Pallbearers are immediate family members and friends.

As a young girl, I remember Uncle Gilbert coming to visit us. These visits continued with my mother Victoria. Now he is in heaven with his parents and many sisters and brothers. RIP Uncle Gilbert.
