Gilbert Rivas III, lovingly known as "Beto," was born on September 2, 1983, and passed away on April 9, 2025, at 9:44 pm. He was the cherished son of the late Gilbert Rivas II. and Debra Jean Rivas, the beloved brother of Jennifer Jean Hernandez, and Jason Hernandez. He was preceded in death by his little brother, Kevin Rivas.
Beto was the father of four children: Aiden Rivas, Gilbert Rivas, and Kristiana Sapphire Rivas, whose mother is Priscilla Marie Rivas, and Klarissa Nicole Rivas, his daughter from another relationship. Though life's challenges kept him apart from his children, he loved them deeply and carried them in his heart always.
He was also dearly loved by many aunts and uncles, especially his aunt Sandra Wright, whom he loved very much.
Beto is remembered by his nephews Angel Hernandez, Johnny Sinta, Paul Gallegos, Damian Rivas, Brandon Rivas, Brian Rivas, and nieces Sandra Sinta and Diamond Rivas, all of whom love him dearly and will forever miss him.
Known for his kindness, infectious smile, and remarkable sense of humor, Beto loved karaoke, making TikToks, and found a deep connection with Jelly Roll's song "Save Me," which spoke to his struggles and hopes. He faced many hardships but never lost his capacity for love, laughter, and generosity.
Though sometimes misunderstood, those close to him knew his caring heart and his desire to lift up those around him. Many friends considered him family, adopting him as an uncle, brother, son, and grandson. Beto drew inspiration from the symbol of the phoenix, believing in the power to rise again after every fall:
"In the midst of ashes, find your strength to be reborn."
"Life has its trials, but from these flames, we emerge stronger."
"The true spirit of resilience is found in the heart of a phoenix."
"Rise from the fall with the grace of a thousand rebirths."
Gilbert "Beto" Rivas III will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his light. May his memory remind us that even in our hardest moments, we can find the strength to begin again.
