Gilbert Herman Spinn of Brenham, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 14, 2024. Gilbert was born on July 17, 1933 to Herman and Mathilda Spinn. Gilbert was baptized on September 10, 1933 at St John's Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. His sponsors were Arthur Schroeder, Charlie Schroeder, William Spinn and Gust Apfelbach.
Gilbert grew up in Brenham and graduated from Brenham High School in 1951. Gilbert then attended Blinn College in Brenham and received his Associate's Degree. After graduating from Blinn he moved to Houston Texas and attended the University of Houston where he received his BBA Degree in Accounting.
Gilbert then went to work for Woodley Petroleum Co. in January of 1959 where he did all the accounting work and also served as the Secretary and Treasurer. He retired from Woodley Petroleum Co. in June of 1999 and moved back to Brenham.
Gilbert had many hobbies including traveling, cooking, baking and listening to his extensive record collection. Gilbert was also an active member of the Brenham Son's of Herman Lodge and enjoyed playing Bingo.
Gilbert is survived by nephews, Wayne and Roger Hueske; great nephews, John Scott Hueske (Tracey Hueske); Jason Hueske (Melissa Hueske) and Roger Hueske (Laura Hueske); great nieces, Jennifer Hueske Fleetwood (Stewart Fleetwood); Kiley Hueske Munslow (Greg Munslow) and Haley Hueske; and numerous great-great nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Jason Hueske, John Scott Hueske, Noah Hueske, Stewart Fleetwood, Greg Munslow and Kurt Tappe.
Visitation with the family of Gilbert Spinn will be on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, Brenham. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel with the burial following the service at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.
