Gilberta Lee Record, 88, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, formerly of
Sullivan, MO passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in Ocala, Florida. Born on March 18, 1937, in Leslie, Missouri, to Gilbert and Leora (Schafer) Weiskopf, Gilberta grew up in the Leslie/Champion City area near Sullivan. After graduating from Sullivan High School in 1955, her early years instilled in her a sense of resilience and the importance of family and community, values that she carried with her throughout her life.
In December of 1959, Gilberta married Vernon Mincemeyer, and together they welcomed three daughters into the world: Kathy, and twins, Karen and Sharon. Gilberta devoted herself to her family, first as a stay-at-home mother, then as a babysitter, nurturing not only her own children but also those of her friends and neighbors. Her home was a wellspring of love and care, and many remember her warm and inviting presence during those years.
After her children had grown, Gilberta found a new calling in caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Her compassion and dedication made her a beloved caretaker, and she touched many lives with her kindness and compassion.
Gilberta's heart found love again when she married Ervin Blackwell in 1981. Their time together was cut short by Ervin's passing in 1992. She found companionship once more with Laverne Record, whom she married in 2002. Their union was a testament to her unwavering capacity for love and connection until Laverne's passing in 2006.
Gilberta's life was marked by an active involvement in her church, where she found both solace and joy. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, and she lived it with every act of service and fellowship.
Her social nature and zest for life made her a well-known figure in her community. Gilberta could often be found at local Bingo games and music socials, where her competitive spirit and cheerful laughter were infectious. She cherished these gatherings, which allowed her to connect with friends and celebrate the simple joys of life.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Gilberta found contentment in hunting, fishing, and foraging for mushrooms-a hobby that brought her closer to nature's beauty. Her love for gardening, sewing, and cooking were creative outlets that not only brought her personal fulfillment but also enriched the lives of those around her with beautiful flowers, handmade garments, and delicious meals.
Gilberta's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She took immense pleasure in babysitting and spending time with them, imparting wisdom and creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
Known for her love of bacon, eggnog, and pickled herring, Gilberta's tastes were as unique and spirited as her personality. Her determination and social nature were hallmarks of her character, leaving a legacy of strength and joy that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by three daughters, Kathy Luongo of Ocala, FL, Karen Blankenship and husband Dennis of White, GA, and Sharon Dippold and husband, David of Imperial, MO; a special daughter, Judith Record of
Sullivan, MO, who was always there to lend a helping hand; 6 grandchildren: Christina Blankenship and husband, Wayne, Nicholas Luongo, Jessica Bell and husband, Chad Bell, Kelly Danahy, Matthew Danahy, and Caitlyn Blankenship; 6 great-grandchildren: Kerrick, Ashlyn, Braiden, Grace, Jacob, & Lily; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Laverne Record and Ervin Blackwell; and two brothers, Robert Weiskopf and Gilbert Weiskopf.
