Sandra Jean Alsop, 70, of
Villa Ridge, MO, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in
St. Louis, MO. Born on January 31, 1955 to James Eldon and Della Mae (Heady) Evans, Sandy's journey began in St. Louis, where she grew up and attended local schools. As a young woman, she entered the workforce with a determined mindset and remained industrious throughout her life.
She married Warren Lee Combs, and together they welcomed two beloved children, Dawnelle and Warren. Though their union later ended in divorce, Sandy's resilient nature kept her moving forward. In 1985, the family moved to Cuba, Missouri and in 1988 she and Warren purchased and successfully operated Combs Residential until 1998. Sandra's entrepreneurial drive then led her to build and open the Kum-N-Get It Buffet, a venture she later sold in 2001.
Love found Sandy once again, and on July 3, 2002, she married Mark Alsop. The couple settled in St. Clair until 2010 when they bought their forever home in Villa Ridge. She continued to touch lives through her work as a Certified Nursing Assistant and office manager for a Home Health care service until her well-earned retirement in 2018.
Sandy's life was a living testament to her Christian faith. She was a devout member of the Midland Pentecostal Assembly Church in Steelville, where she found strength and solace in her beliefs. Sandy's relationship with the Lord was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through every season of life with grace and gratitude.
Her positive outlook and heartfelt thankfulness were an inspiration to all who knew her. Despite life's many challenges, Sandy remained a beacon of joy and optimism. Her genuine love for people and her faith were evident to everyone she encountered, and her legacy is one of compassion and unwavering trust in God.
Family was the core of Sandy's world, and she adored spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She also found great joy in the companionship of her pets, Richie and Zero, who were a source of comfort and happiness. In her leisure time, Sandy was a gifted cook. She spent countless hours creating culinary delights for her loved ones and enjoying cooking shows, which provided both entertainment and inspiration in her later years.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Mark Alsop of
Villa Ridge, MO; two children, Warren Combs of Steelville, MO and Dawne Shaw and husband Anthony of Lenox, MO; 7 beloved grandchildren, Dakota Schroeder (Brianna Hollister) of
Sullivan, MO, Jessica Veloz (Dylan Warfield) of Steelville, MO, MacKayla Minx and husband, Kaleb of Rolla, MO, Kameron Veloz (Madison Alexander) of Wentzville, MO, Kiara, Dennis & Hunter Shaw all of St. James, MO; 8 great grandchildren: Aubreey, Brayden, Liam, Aurora, Zion, Carson, Baker, and a baby boy soon to be born; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
