Gilbert “Gilly” Machuca Ybarra, 83 years old of Pecos, Tx, passed away November 2, 2023 in Pecos, Tx. Gilbert “Gilly” was born on December 29, 1939 in Pecos, Tx to Roque Ybarra Sr. & Natividad Machuca Ybarra. He married Catalina Mata Ybarra on April 16, 1970 in Pecos, Tx. He was a longtime seismograph surveyor with Geo Systems, co-owner of “Y” Service, and was heavily involved in local politics. Later in life he slowed down and worked at RCDC as a correctional officer until he retired at 62. While retired he continued to make delicious tamales at the “Y” Cafe until health issues prevented him to continue his love of making tamales. Gilbert “Gilly” was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He was loved by all that got to meet him. He was always in good spirits, his smile and charming personality could light up any room. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. Gilbert “Gilly” was proceeded in death by his parents, Roque Ybarra Sr., Natividad Ybarra, sisters Aurora Baca, Claudia Mata, brothers, Gustavo Ybarra, Romeo Ybarra, Roque “Lulu” Ybarra Jr., and George Ybarra. He is survived by his son Gilbert Ybarra Jr. and spouse Anita Ybarra, daughter Kathy Lozoya and spouse Esteban Lozoya Jr. Also by children from previous marriage daughter Melinda Gamboa and spouse Frank Gamboa, daughter Sylvia Chavez and spouse Carlos Chavez, Raymond Ybarra, Ydalia Colantuono and spouse Anthony Colantuono. Grandchildren Gilbert Michael Ybarra and spouse Amy Ybarra, Esmeralda Maledon and spouse Cody Maledon, Elizabeth Ybarra, Ryan Ybarra, Frankie Gamboa and Spouse Luz Gamboa, Yolanda Gamboa, Andrea Grayson, Sylvia Chavez and spouse Angel Magdaleno, Angel Chavez and spouse Natalie Williams, Raymond Ybarra Jr., Roseanne Ybarra, Roxanne Ybarra, Gilbert Ybarra, Veronica Rodriguez and spouse Robert Rodriguez, Anthony Colantuono Jr., Ceasar Colantuono and spouse Sonia Colantuono, 26 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held for Gilly on held on Monday, November 13, 2023 from 10:30 am - 9:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Pecos Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 10:00 am at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church in Pecos. The family of Gilbert “Gilly” Ybarra wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Reeves Regional Hospital.
