Gilda Lee Peabody, 78, a resident of the Forest Grove community passed away on November 23, 2025 at her home.

Gilda was born on May 18, 1947 in Pensacola, FL. She was the older of two children born to William and Opal (Mattox) Booth. She was raised in Panama City and attended Bay High School, graduating with the class of 1965.

She met her future husband, Wes Peabody, on a blind date. They married 6 months later on June 23, 1966 in North Pole, Alaska. They made their home in North Pole until 1968 when they moved to Gaston. In 1978 they made their home in Hillsboro and lived there until 2003 when they moved to Gales Creek.

Gilda was a loving and devoted mother to her four children, Alden, John, David and Anna. She also provided daycare to lots of neighborhood families and friends. Gilda also worked in their family sign business.

She enjoyed traveling to see all the wonders of the State of Oregon. She loved children, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a master seamstress and enjoyed cooking and flower gardening.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Morgan Booth.

She is survived by her loving spouse, Wes, four children and their spouses, Alden and Alice Peabody of Forest Grove, John Peabody of Gaston, David and Jennie Peabody of Portland, Anna Peabody of North Plains, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
