Mr. Gillus “Varner” Stinson Jr., 82, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025. Mr. Stinson was born March 1st, 1943 in Forsyth County to the late “Gillus” Varner Stinson Sr., and Bessie Combs Stinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Patsy Long Stinson; and his sister, Aladene Norman. Varner graduated from Boonville High School and he spent most of his life in Yadkin County. He was employed by Li’LGeneral Store, Griffin Staffing, and he was the owner of Stinson’s Exxon in East Bend. He was retired from North Carolina Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Stinson was a member for over 50 years at Pfafftown Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and custodian since 1980. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Colvard Hunter Stinson of the home; two sons, Bryan (Cheryl) Stinson, Neal (Amy) Stinson, and a daughter, April (Don) Stinson Johnson; step-son, Derrick J. (Johnnie) Hunter; grandchildren, Austin (Megan) Stinson, Daniel Stinson, Evan (Tori) Stinson. Mark (Lisa) Johnson, Marissa (Tommy) Grant, Mitchell (Savannah) Johnson, Patrick (Sarah) Stinson, Noel Stinson, Lydia (Jose) Stinson, Seth Hunter; and eight great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Charity Baptist Church Cemetery in Boonville, NC. In lieu of flowers the family request donations are made to Pfafftown Baptist Church. Gentry Family Funeral Service of East Bend is serving the Stinson Family.
