It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ginger Helton McGaha, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, who left this world on December 24, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on January 29, 1952, in Gaston County, NC, Ginger brought joy to those around her with her warm smile and unwavering kindness.
Ginger was a devoted wife to her husband, J. Allen "Mac" McGaha; children, Carrie Robinson (John), Chad McGaha (Misty), Emily Swindell (GT), Amy Heavner (Brandon); grandchildren, Jacob Hege (Lauren), Aubrey Hege, Claire Hege, Luke Robinson, Zachary McGaha, Seth McGaha, Hunter Swindell, Haiden Swindell, Harrison Swindell, Hudson Swindell, Addilyn Heavner, Savannah Heavner; great grandbaby, Isaiah Samuel Hege; brother, Jerry Helton (Linda), Chubb Helton (Jean), Rick Helton (Donna), Lynn Helton (Kim);sister, Trudy Whitener (Rick).
Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, Holland and Mary John Helton; brother, Donald Helton (Fran).
She accepted the Lord as her Savior at the age of 13, and tried to live her life obedient unto Him. She was a part of the McAdenville Wesleyan Church, where she found solace and connection through worship music and fellowship with family and friends.
Her hands were always busy, whether she was crafting beautiful flower arrangements or making costumes that sparked imagination and joy. Ginger had a knack for turning everyday moments into something special, particularly through her love of landscaping, and creating stunning displays at home. If there was something important to her family, she would go out of her way to create a memory to make the moment extra special. She often put her own suffering to the wayside, when she saw someone else in there time of suffering. She was there to offer encouragement and give to them, in there time of need. She was a true example of selfless love.
For many years, she brought her talents to the department store world as a dedicated sales clerk and enjoyed spreading cheer while gift-wrapping at Belk. Shopping was one of her greatest pleasures, especially when it involved exploring the aisles of Hobby Lobby or picking out the perfect plant at Southern Roots Garden Center.
Ginger's love for life was evident in her passion for crafts, her beautiful landscape, and her excitement for attending concerts, where she could lose herself in the music that spoke to her soul. She leaves behind a legacy of truth, forgiveness, and unconditional love for her family. Her gifts of creativity, love, and the simple joy that comes from making something beautiful with one's hands will be missed.
Family and friends who wish to celebrate Ginger's life are invited to join us at Covenant Church, 2168 Gastonia Hwy, Lincolnton, NC, 28092, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, officiated by, Pastor Rick Landers, at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held beforehand at the church starting at 9:30 AM, allowing everyone to share stories, laughter, and memories that truly reflected the vibrant spirit of Ginger McGaha. Burial will be held privately.
In honoring Ginger's memory, her last prayers would be that this is not the end. Her prayer would be that ALL her family and friends will join her in Heaven, that chains will be broken, and that generational curses will be buried (there is nothing that has been done that can not be forgiven). Let my family be the generation to show the world what it looks like to be God's hands and feet. As Ge would say "See ya Pee ya"!
