Virginia Ann "Ginger" Thrasher, age 73, of Shelbyville, MO, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Ginger was born on August 13, 1951, in Macon County, MO, the daughter of Emerald and Mildred Lucille (McCann) Purdy. She was united in marriage to Gary Thrasher on February 19, 1972 in Shelbyville. He survives.
She is also survived by her two children, Stacy Geisendorfer (Mike) and Matt Thrasher (Megan) all of Shelbyville, MO; five grandchildren, Cassie Geisendorfer, Ethan Geisendorfer, Natalie Thrasher, Gavin Thrasher, and Jake Geisendorfer; two brothers, John Reeves (Betty) and Frank Reeves all of Colorado; three brothers-in-law, Mike Thrasher (Laura Ann) of Shelbyville, MO, Jim Thrasher of Leonard, MO, and Bill Thrasher of Shelbyville, MO; nieces and nephews, Emily Van Weerdhuizen, Mark Thrasher, Alex Thrasher, Alicia Glover, Tamara Gough, Samuel Reeves, and Christopher Reeves.
She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lou Mettes and Andy Purdy; and sisters-in-law, Delores Thrasher and Debby Thrasher.
Ginger was a member of Bethel Christian Church, Leonard Christian Church, and Delta Theta Tau Chapter of Shelbyville. Ginger was known for her cooking, particularly her coconut cream pie. She enjoyed working beside Gary on the farm, volunteering at the Food Bank, reading, and doing needlework. She was also devoted to her Bible study group. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially attending her grandchildren's activities.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the funeral home in Shelbina, MO. Burial will follow the service in Bethel Zion Cemetery near Bethel, MO. Memorials may be made to Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Shelby County Food Bank, and Delta Theta Tau Chapter of Shelbyville.
