Visitation at Baird-Case Jordan Fannin Funeral home on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 8:30am to 9:30am. Burial will follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven 1500 South State Road 7, North Lauderdale, Fl 33068.
Giovanna was born to Alfonso Confalone and Domenica Farinacce on February 23, 1934. She grew up on the family's farm in the small village of Pescosansonesco Italy where she also went to school. She married Nicola Luciani, the love of her life, on November 25th, 1951. The following year she gave birth to her first son Lino Luciani. Several years later the couple moved to Wales, England. There they welcomed their second child, a daughter, Rossana. Giovanna and Nicola loved Wales and made lifelong friends there. Finally, In 1963 they were proud to immigrate to America and made their home in Malden Massachusetts where their 3rd child Nikki was born. They had the joy of celebrating 66 years of marriage together. Giovanna worked at the Malden Hospital for many years. She loved cooking for her family and friends. Hosting family gatherings with homemade Italian food was her passion. She had a green thumb with her garden of vegetables and flowers like no one else. Their final adventure was moving to Florida to enjoy the sunshine and being with their children, their six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren who call her Nonni.
Giovanna is preceded in death by her parents Domenica Farinacce and Alfonso Confalone, her husband Nicola Luciani, and her brother Sabatino Confalone. Giovanna is survived by her son Lino Luciani her daughter Rossana DiGiovanni and her son Nikki Luciani, her sister Miranda Dottavio and her brother Agostino Confalone. Her six grandchildren, Linda Shapiro, Pamela Zubick, Rachel DiGiovanni, Jennifer Stanley, Michael Luciani and Jill Breslaw, her 12 great grand children Valentina, Anthony, Emily, Sophia, Jake, Adam, Jackson, Tyler, Logan, Lily, Alessandra, and Christian.
Our beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great grandmother had a smile that would light up a room and a beautiful heart. She had such a sweet way about her and was loved and adored by everyone that knew her. Although our family is heartbroken we are comforted to know she is an Angel and we will be together again one day in Heaven
