Giuseppa (Josie) Kramer was born on June 12, 1947 in Molfetta, Italy. She was the second born of four girls to parents Sergio DeGoia, Merchant Marine, and Giovanna Petuzzella, homemaker.

When Josie was seventeen, her parents arranged for her to marry Frank Allegretta, also from Molfetta. After the wedding, they immigrated to Hoboken, NJ in 1964. Josie was eighteen years old when she had their first child, Rose. They later built a house in Bridgewater NJ and settled there having two more children, Joey and Joanne.

After raising their children, Josie went to nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. It was her passion to work with special needs children, and she did so for private agencies, Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside NJ, and at Piscataway Public Schools. While working, she made time to be a dedicated and loving grandmother to her four grandchildren. After thirty years of marriage, Josie and Frank divorced. She converted to the Evangelical faith and was an active member of the Evangel Chapel in Bridgewater NJ, and the Midway Assembly of God Church in Lewes, DE. She fulfilled a dream of touring Israel and did so with her congregation. In 2002 she married Louis Kramer and they retired to Milton, DE.

Having grown up in a seafaring town, Josie loved the ocean and the rocky coastline. She spent decades traveling to beach destinations along the east coast during the off season, with many repeat visits to Ogunquit, Maine.Josie is survived by her husband Louis, former husband Frank, two children Rose and Joanne, and four grandchildren, Joey and Michelle Remmett, and Emma and Talia Jacobson.Josie embodied great inner strength and resilience to marry and immigrate to the United States at such a young age.

She learned a new language, way of life, and returned to school later in life graduating at the top of her class. Through her work as a nurse, she exuded love for the children and families she served, making a remarkable difference in their health and quality of life. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and the children she served
