Gladys Inez Limehouse Edge was born June 22, 1939, in Summerville, South Carolina to Sammy Limehouse and Inez Rivers. She was the fourth of seven children; preceded in death by her brothers, Albert and Sammy 'Bubba', and her sisters, Marie, Bernesta, and Francis 'Bogie'. She attended the public schools of Dorchester County. In 1954, she gave birth to her only child, Ivery Lee Limehouse (Thelma). Ivery was a loving and devoted son who cared for his mother immensely until he preceded her in death in 1998. Gladys worked as a nanny in her early years, then began work as a Mental Health Specialist at the Coastal Center in Summerville, SC, for over 15 years, until her retirement in the late 90s. Gladys was a member of Murray United Methodist Church for many years. She served God and the community with her whole heart. As a natural-born leader and organizer, Gladys served as the Founder of 'God's Kitchen' (Murray UMC Food Bank). In addition, she was a member of the United Women & Faith Unit as the President of Eliza Wynn Circle until her health declined. As the leader of 'God's Kitchen,' she sponsored several programs, including the Community Breakfast, Free Food Giveaway, Katie's Krops, and feeding the youth of the Salkehatchie Summer Program. Gladys loved crocheting, crossword puzzles, fishing, gardening, knitting, reading, traveling, the company of friends and family, and watching her favorite tv shows. She loved all people and was never afraid to speak her mind. Gladys also adored her beloved late pup, Chopper. Gladys is survived by her two grandchildren, Jessica Parrish (Evan), Kevin Limehouse (Camille) and their mother, Thelma Limehouse; two great-grandchildren, Evan Ivery James Parrish, and Nathan Andrew Limehouse; her sisters, Dorothy L Williams and Katherine 'Shing' Limehouse; her niece LaKeshia L Haynes (Roger), grandniece Kiala Elizabeth, and her spiritual adopted son, Larry Greene (Marie), her spiritual friends & sisters, Gwendolyn Cook, Dorothy Evans, and Carrie Lee Aikens, who all lovingly cared for her in her final years. Beyond her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Gladys is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and her spiritual family at Murray United Methodist Church and Bethany United Methodist Church. Gladys passed away peacefully in her sleep. Until her final moments of death, she was full of love and gratitude for all the Lord had blessed her with. Her legacy is love, faith, and dedication to serving others. "I'm not on Earth. I'm on God's land My heart is good." -Gladys Edge
