Gladys Lucille Fenneberg, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, at the Lutheran Community Home in
Seymour, Indiana.
Born on June 23, 1942, in Brownstown, Indiana, Gladys was the daughter of the late Victor and Norma (Wischmeier) Kamman.
She married her husband, Wilbur Edwin "Wib" Fenneberg on June 14, 1964, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Together, they were co-owners of Will's Tavern from 1967 until 1992.
Gladys graduated from Brownstown High School, class of 1960, and went on to attend Concordia Lutheran College in River Forest, Illinois. She then worked at Indiana Telephone for a number of years. A lifelong Lutheran, her deep and unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life - she never missed a Sunday service and lived each day grounded in grace, devotion, and love.
She was a devoted homemaker and mother of three sons, always taking them to practices, games, and extracurricular activities.
Gladys was best known for her warmth, her impeccable memory for birthdays, and her signature greeting cards - lovingly chosen and sent with care. Whether it was a family milestone or a simple reminder that someone was being thought of, her cards always arrived right on time. She believed in the power of kind words and heartfelt notes, and she took joy in both sending and receiving them.
A devoted grandmother, Gladys cherished her two grandsons beyond measure. They were the light of her life, and her face lit up whenever she spoke of them and spent time with them.
Gladys was also a gifted cook and baker, known for filling her home (and the homes of others) with the aroma of comforting, delicious meals and sweet treats. Christmas was her favorite time of year - a season she embraced with joy, tradition, and boundless spirit.
During her few months at the Lutheran Community Home, Gladys found a second family and a deep sense of community. She loved getting her hair done, sharing stories, and engaging in the relationships from a place that brought her peace and companionship.
Gladys leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and the small but meaningful gestures that made everyone around her feel remembered and loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents; late husband, Wilbur Fenneberg; brother, Lowell Kamman; brother-in-law, Alfred Fenneberg; and three nephews.
Gladys is survived by her sons, Daniel Fenneberg, Timothy Fenneberg and Jeffrey Fenneberg (Leanna); siblings, Dorothy Christopher, Arthur Kamman (Margie), Marilyn Kamman, Carolyn Peters (Richard), Mildred Kamman, Waldo Kamman (Karen), and Melba Cummings (Terry); sister-in-law, Mildred Fenneberg; and two grandsons, Addison and Kellen Fenneberg.
