Gladys B. Hartmann, 89, a Cedarburg resident, died on September 17, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital-Ozaukee Campus.
She was born February 18, 1935, in the town of Sherman, the daughter of the late Otto and Verna (Weinhold) Broetzmann. She graduated from Random Lake High School in 1952. She was married to the late Edward R. Hartmann on November 26, 1966. They lived in Grafton all their married life. Gladys was a homemaker and later an accountant at Woolworths and Fleet Mortgage.
After retirement, Gladys volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital for more than fifteen years, giving several thousand hours of time. She was active in the congregation at St. Paul’s Grafton, serving on many committees and the Women’s Guild. Gladys enjoyed ballroom dancing on weekends and will be missed as a cheerful, funny, and devoted family member and friend.
Mrs. Hartmann is survived by sons, Gregg R. Hartmann (Karen) and Daniel E. Hartmann (Sandy); their five children: Benjamin, Amelia, David (Samantha), Emma, and Owen; as well as two great-grandchildren; her remaining sister, Carol Navis (Robert); and sisters-in-law, Marlene and Lorraine Broetzmann. She was a sister to Elroy, Leroy, Earl, and Clarence Broetzmann, and Evelyn Dolge, Marion Prinsen, Irene Schulz, and Betty Knowles.
Services will be held at 5:30PM on October 3rd at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 701 Washington St, Grafton, WI. Please park on the street north of church. All are invited to a reception that will follow, at the Milwaukee Ale House, 1208 13th Avenue Grafton, WI. Close family may call at burial at 11:00AM on October 5th at St. Paul’s Heritage Hills Cemetery, Random Lake.
