Gladys Melvin Obituary
Gladys was known for her kind heart and always seemed to have a smile on her face. She had a vast love for all animals, but especially dogs and cats. She worked in retail with National Shirt Company and later retired after many years with the JCPenney Company. Gladys was also a proud member of Bayou George First Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Aubrey Melvin; sons, Charles Ira Porter and Aubrey Keith Melvin; and siblings, Ester Vickery and Don Woods.
Left to cherish Glady's memory include her granddaughter, Suzanne Griffin (John); great-granddaughter, Krista Griffin; great-grandson, Kyle Griffin; her sister, Elois Peacock; niece, Donna Touchstone; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 1:30PM in the chapel at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will proceed at 2:00PM with Pastor James Braxton officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
