Gladys Nichols "Nick" Williams
Nick Williams, 97 of Graceville, Florida went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 27, 2023, at Shands Hospital. She was born in Dothan, Alabama on August 24, 1926, to Gladys and Colie Nichols.
She grew up in Graceville and was a graduate of Graceville High School with Salutatorian Honors. She attended and received her bachelor's degree in Math education from Florida State University in Tallahassee. She received her master's degree from both Florida State University and Troy University in Guidance and Counseling and Administration and Supervision. Her passion was teaching her students as exemplified by her 49-year career in education. She worked 24 years teaching at Graceville High School. She spent 25 years at the Jackson County School District Office working in Administration and Supervision, where she worked with education leaders from school districts all over Florida. Nick was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Education Honor Society and elected as an outstanding Woman of the Year at First United Methodist Church in Graceville. She was honored to be appointed to the Chipola College Board of Directors
She was proud to be elected as the first woman president of the Association of Student Services Administrators, member of the First United Methodist Church of Graceville, Graceville Woman's Club, Graceville Garden Club, and winning at Bridge-a-rama and bridge clubs.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 37 years, Buddy Williams, five of her eight siblings Rheba, Annette, Shirley, Peggy, Diane, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tootsie and Arthur Williams.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Williams Bennett and John Bennett, grandson John Williams "Will" Bennett, two brothers Colie "Sonny" Nichols, Jr. (Freida) Rex Nichols as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She loved passionately her family, friends, former students, and coworkers. She loved life and lived it to the fullest.
The time of visitation will be held Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in Graceville, 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. (CDT), with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at the Marvin Chapel Cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home directing.
Flowers will be accepted or those wishing can make memorials to the First United Methodist Church P.O. Box 376 Graceville, FL 32440 or to the Stop Children's Cancer 2622 NW 43rd Street, Suite B3 Gainesville, FL 32606.
