Gladys Marie Wisniewski, 90, of Alpena, left this world on June 24, 2025, at Turning Brook surrounded by her four children. Born on October 9, 1934, in Maple Ridge, she was the beloved daughter of the late Leonard and Eva (Greene) Stepanski. Gladys was a graduate of Alpena High School, where she enjoyed her time twirling in the marching band and as a homecoming queen.
On September 4, 1954, she married the love of her life, Harry Wisniewski, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alpena. Their union was a beautiful testament to enduring love, and together they created a family rich in love and life. Gladys would go on to be a devoted wife, mother, and granny, impacting everyone she met with her kindness and caring nature.
Throughout her life, Gladys found her calling in serving others. After her work as a telephone operator, she devoted her time to raising her family then later working at St. Mary's Church, embodying her commitment to faith through active and loving service. Her devotion extended beyond her church duties; she was proud to be involved in the Rosary Society and the Daughters of Isabella, serving as a guiding light to many in her community.
A woman of diverse interests, Gladys enjoyed playing cards, engaging in lively games of bingo, and sharing in the thrill of hunting. However, her greatest joy came from the precious moments spent with her family, particularly at their cherished family cabin. These memories, filled with laughter, love, and togetherness, will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones.
Gladys is survived by her children, Bryan Wisniewski, Myron (Lisa) Wisniewski, Colleen (Jim) Denomme, and Sally (Mike) Wagner. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Janna (Stephen Montalvo), Ben (Nat Adams), Alex (Kristen), Hunter (Alyssa), Hayden (Marissa Rhoads), Michelle (Jimmy) Legault, Sara (Jacob) Oestreich, Madison (Josh) Sage, McKenzie (Alex) Wood, and Griffin Wagner, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Landen, Weston, and Leo, and step-grandchildren, Trent and Seth. She also leaves behind her sister Kathleen (James) Hubert, and many adored nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Harry, and her beloved siblings, Evelyn, Earl, Henry, Stanley, and Raymond. Her passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we gather to remember and celebrate her remarkable life, we find comfort in the lasting impact she has made on so many. Gladys Marie Wisniewski will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, a constant reminder of love, warmth, and the cherished moments they shared.
Family will receive friends for visitation at A.E. Ross Funeral Home on Sunday, June 29, 2025 from 3pm until 5:30pm with prayer of the rosary followed by a prayer service starting at 3pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 10am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. A private interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Hospice of Michigan and the staff of Turning Brook for their compassionate care during a difficult time.
