Glen Thomas Bankowski

Glen Thomas Bankowski, 76, entered into rest and reunited with his heavenly wife, family and friends, Saturday, November 15, at Pappus House in Thomasville. He was the husband of the late, Joan M. (March) Bankowski, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 21 at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 2114 W. Market St., York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 950 W. Market St., York, with the Rev. Celestine as Celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow in Holy Savior Cemetery.

Born March 14, 1949, in Fitchburg, MA, Glen was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Anderson) Bankowski. Upon graduation from York Catholic High School in 1967, Glen enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam in Combat Infantry, earning a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Silver Star Service, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Sharpshooter (Rifle M-16) and Expert (Rifle M-14). He worked most of his life as a salesman (no surprise with the way he loved to talk!), retiring from Graybar Electric and ending his career moonlighting for U-Haul.

He adored his two grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play in numerous sports, taking trips to the beach with family, sitting on the porch with a beverage and a "blow", attending York Catholic Class of 1967 reunion gatherings, golfing with his buddies and grandson, sending pictures of the moon to his granddaughter, asking his daughter if she is ever done shopping, watching the movie Platoon and talking to anyone who would listen.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Jennifer M. Cristofoletti and husband, Kevin of York; one cherished grandson, Chase T. Cristofoletti; one adored granddaughter, Lia M. Cristofoletti; two sisters, Jeannie V. Weaver of Lititz and Elizabeth D. Rudisill, of York; one brother, Joseph W. Bankowski of York and wife Joyce; one sister-in-law Kimberly A. March of York; numerous nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother-in-law Curvin E. Weaver of Lititz; and nephew Eric E. Weaver of Lititz.
