Glen Andrew Barrus, husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, and uncle passed peacefully at home on September 9, 2025, after a long illness.
He passed only 15 hours after his brother Garth.
Glen was born December 29, 1948, at the Tooele Hospital to Sherm and Readele Covington Barrus. He was the first of nine children. The family moved from Grantsville to Salt Lake when he was little, but he came out to Grantsville in the summers to help with the family farm, which he loved to do.
Glen was married to Pam Fawcett, they later divorced. Together they had 2 daughters, Lynda Barrus and Kristilyn (Steve) Erickson, and grandchildren Christopher, Sydnie, Hunter, Kaitlyn, Aayla, and Gavin.
Glen married Susan Turner, she brought daughter Gwen (Doyle) Wyman and grandchildren TC, Beth, Tabitha, Clancey (Sam), and Sadie (Dillon), great-grandchildren Addysen, Lane, McHugh, Oakley, Autumn, Harley, Vincent, and Brody.
Glen is a Vietnam Veteran with medals and a letter of commendation for heroism in Vietnam on December 1, 1969, He was very instrumental in bringing "the wall" to Utah.
Glen worked as a cabinet maker, baker at Safeway, and a nurse at the VA Hospital. He retired in 1995 and became an "old beat-up cowboy" which he loved. Riding his horse Bear was his freedom.
Glen is survived by wife Susan (Louise), children Lynda, Kristilyn (Steve) Erickson, Gwen (Doyle) Wyman, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, siblings, Gary, Shellie, Dave, and Scott.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lynda and Jolyn and brothers Doug and Garth.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alma Parker and Emily with Quality Home Health & Hospice, as well as Alex Childs, PA-C and staff.
A memorial service will be held at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main Street, Tooele, Utah, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., with a visitation prior beginning at 4:30 p.m.
