Glen A. Carlow Sr., 75,
May 2, 1950-May 20, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, and devoted family man. Glen's unwavering love and commitment to his family were the cornerstones of his life. He was born May 2, 1950, in Waterville, ME, the son of the late Juan and Elizabeth (Decker) Carlow Sr. After graduating from Nokomis High School in 1969, he enlisted to serve our country in the Maine Army National Guard. Glen served for fourteen years and rose to the rank of Sergeant. Before being Honorably Discharged and while employed at the Irving Hartland Tannery Glen began pursuing a lifelong passion of auctioneering. His sharp wit, charismatic personality, and uncanny ability to find the best treasures helped him excel in his profession, which he conducted with honest and ethical business practices alongside the love of his life and biggest supporter, Rosie. Glen was a respected member of the auction community, dedicating forty- four years to his auction business. Carlow's Countryside Auctions truly reflected his dedication and love for the trade.
Glen found great jubilation in MAKING MEMORIES with family and friends beyond the realm of auctioneering, from cultivating beautiful landscapes to impromptu vocabulary lessons. Being enthusiastic and proud, GIen was a vocal supporter at his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and Country Gold Saturday nights sing-offs. Glen was an avid lover of street shopping escapades, going on bottle-picking adventures, taking great joy in dismantling retired buildings, and surprising his wife with special notes of love and wildflowers he would pick.
Glen was a pillar within the Harmony community for forty-seven years. His influence and impact were felt in every corner of the town. During that time, he also served two terms as town Selectman and was a current member of the Patriarch Club, where he conducted the yearly pie auction, which his children have chosen to carry on in his memory.
