MOUNT GILEAD - Glen Robert Conrad, age 61, of Mount Gilead, OH, passed away peacefully at his home on the evening of Saturday, October 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, following a battle with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.
Born on February 13, 1964, in Ravenna, OH, Glen was the son of Dolly (Dorak) Conrad and the late Paul Conrad. He graduated from Rootstown High School in 1982 and went on to attend Kent State University.
Glen began his career in construction, building homes. Later, he served his community as a rural mail carrier with the Mount Gilead Post Office, a role he proudly held for 20 years until health concerns led to his early retirement.
As a teenager, Glen met Robin Beggs at Pine Lake Lodge in Ravenna. They developed a close friendship that developed into a lasting love. They were married on August 5, 1989, in Kent, and spent 36 wonderful years together as husband and wife.
Glen was most at home in the great outdoors, especially near the water. He had a lifelong passion for canoeing, camping, hiking, and fishing. A talented swimmer and collegiate diver, Glen later shared his skills by teaching swimming and diving to countless children.
A man with a generous heart, Glen always looked for ways to help others. He volunteered with Chester Arbor Gleaners 121, at Mount Gilead State Park, and frequently assisted in his wife's art classroom. While his sons were in scouting, he was an enthusiastic and dedicated Boy Scout volunteer.
Though the final years of Glen's life were marked by significant challenges, his family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from the Mount Gilead community-especially their friends at the Mount Gilead Pool-whose kindness and care made a lasting difference.
Glen will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Robin Conrad, of Mount Gilead; his three sons: Logan (Nayana) Conrad of San Diego, CA, Casey Conrad of Columbus, and Joel Conrad of Kent; his mother, Dolly Conrad; siblings: Mike (Nan) Conrad, Cheryl (Steve) Utt, Dan (Barb) Conrad, and Joe Conrad; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members.
Glen's family will greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Mount Gilead Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Jenni Bowman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hilarity for Charity or Hospice of Central Ohio.
