Glen Doris Parker Washington, age 82, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, October 31, 2022, at East Jefferson General Hospital. She was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Glen Doris was a graduate of Booker T. Washington School and continued her studies at Dillard University. She was a retired NOPD Correctional Officer and a former Orleans Parish Deputy Sheriff. Growing up in a Christian family, her desire to serve Christ was instilled at an early age. As a faithful member of Austerlitz Street Baptist Church, she served under the leadership of her father, her brother, and currently her son. Her Christian walk was an essential part of her life. She was past president of the Mass Choir and a member of the Deaconess Ministry. Devoted mother of Pastor Quinton (Daphne) Washington, Pastor Sherman (Cynthia) Washington, and Nedra Washington Moore (Pastor Norman) Francis. Loving grandmother of Ieshia Riggins, Shatondra Batiste, Sherman Batiste, and Willie Moore, Jr. Daughter of the late Rev. Edward W. Parker, Sr. and Daisy Morris Parker. Sister of Rev. Edward W. (Manuella) Parker, Jr., Pastor Emeritus of Austerlitz Street Baptist Church. Sister-in-law of Evelyn Johnson of Nashville, TN; also cherishing lasting memories are 12 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Austerlitz Street Baptist Church, Second Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, 1738 L. B. Landry Avenue New Orleans, LA on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Under the Auspices of Austerlitz Street Baptist Church, Rev. Sherman E. Washington, pastor and officiant; Rev. Norman Francis, host pastor. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above-named church. Interment: Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery-Gretna, LA
