Glen Garth "Plum" Kohrman of Livingston, Texas, entered heaven on October 30, 2024, at 6:15 pm. Plum was 78 years old.
Plum was born in Livingston, Texas, on June 9, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents, Morris Glen "Son" Kohrman and Mary Fern Nixon Kohrman, brother-in-law, David Higgerson, and his soulmate, Barbara Dennix.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kristy Long and husband, Hec of Livingston; and Kelly Fahel and husband, Sam of Aylett, VA; grandson, Breckett Long of College Station; sister, Suzanne Higgerson of Austin; brother, Gene Kohrman and wife, Mickey of Livingston; two special nephews, Alan Higgerson and wife, Renee, of Dripping Springs; and Eric Higgerson of Austin; special friend, Bobbie Cooley of Livingston; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and his dog, Izzy.
Plum graduated from Livingston High School in 1964 and entered the Army in January of 1966, where he served in Frankfurt, Germany, for the majority of his service as a Specialist 4, Company B, Security & Support Battalion, Europe. He also was a letter carrier in the USPS in Livingston for over 30 years where you would see him walking his route. After he retired from the USPS, Plum drove his 18-wheeler, aptly named "Plum Crazy" across the U.S. and loved telling stories of his days on the road.
Plum enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing anywhere, hunting, sitting on his back porch listening to his country music while watching cattle graze in the pasture, and spoiling Izzy.
Above all, his main love was the Rodeo. His specialty was calf roping where he was the YPR 1993 Calf Roping Champion. He was actively involved in the Polk County Youth Rodeo Association where he received the Distinguished Service Award. After his numerous injuries from the rodeo, he hung up his spurs, and began working with Champion Rodeo Company in Buffalo where he hauled bucking horses and anything else needed of him. Plum was a true cowboy in his starched jeans and shirt, boots, belt buckle, hat, and mustache. He not only looked the part but played the part.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 10 a.m., at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Plum's name to the Polk County Youth Rodeo Association.
