Glen Nielson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 15, 2025.
Ashland - Glen A. Nielson passed away at home on September 11, 2025 after a courageous battle with diabetes and kidney failure. He was born on February 5, 1959 in Beverly, Massachusetts to the late Virginia (Marston) Hayes and Herbert Nielson. He moved to Ashland, Maine with his mother and step father Sewall Hayes and graduated from Ashland Community High school. He worked in the hardware industry for over forty years and was an exceptional craftsman from building houses to furniture. If you had a carpentry question, Glen had an answer.

Glen is survived by his wife of 34 years Patti Nielson; children Shelli (Chet) Condon and Scott (Jenny) Hammond; grandchildren Chelsea (Dan) Amero, Lucien Hammond (Kayla Maclean), Clark Condon, and Caiden Condon; great grandchildren Little Lillia and Brayden Amero. Bonus grandchildren Kalleigh, Dane, and Brooke. He also leaves behind siblings William Hayes of New Hampshire, Mark (Pat) Nielson, Wade (Connie) Nielson, and Dawn Howland all of Massachusetts. Glen will also be remembered by his in-laws Linda Tilsley, Suzanne Cole, and Roland (Kitty) LeVasseur and many nieces and nephews.

Patti and family would like to thank the Nephrology Clinic in Bangor, Maine and the hospice nurses for the wonderful compassionate care they gave Glen.

Upon Glen's request, there will be no funeral services. The family asks that donations in memory of Glen be made to the Kidney Foundation, Diabetes Foundation, or Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle Maine.
