May 29,1935~November 10, 2024
Glenda Faye Bullerdick, aged 89, passed away on November 10, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio. Born on May 29, 1935, in Weir, Mississippi, she was a beloved member of the community and a cherished figure in her family.
Glenda grew up on a homestead in Choctaw County, where her early years were filled with the rural pleasures of running through fields and swimming in the family pond. She attended Simpson Consolidated Elementary School and graduated from Weir High School, later furthering her education at Ivy Tech in Indianapolis, Indiana. She and her family were members of the Providence Baptist Church in Eupora, Mississippi.
Her life took a significant turn when she joined the Women's Auxiliary Corps (WAC) of the United States Army, where she met William R. Bullerdick, whom she married after her service. The couple settled in Indianapolis, where they raised three daughters. Glenda worked for Bostitch Staple Company and Watkins Quality Products from the early 60s to the mid-80s, demonstrating a strong work ethic and dedication to providing for her family.
A woman of faith, Glenda was an active member of the Maranatha/Koinonia Baptist Church in Indianapolis. She deeply cherished her religious community and contributed to it not only through attendance but also by teaching and sharing music, playing various instruments, and singing hymns.
Glenda was also remarkably skilled in numerous crafts. She was proficient in playing instruments such as the piano, organ, guitar, violin, and mandolin. Her creative talents extended to sewing, quilting, upholstering, and other handicrafts, embodying the spirit of a pioneer in home crafting long before such activities became widely recognized.
She is survived by her sister, Lurayne Mills; daughters, Kathy Askren (husband Ben), Patricia Ellis, and Laura Mattox (husband David); grandchildren, Amber Housholder (Dan), Daniel Barron (Sarah), Lindsey Askren, Josh Ellis (Amanda), Nick Ellis (Samantha), and Sarah Sutton (Jason) Jeremy Riley, Mandi Summerlot (Ricky) Dani Riley and Jordon Riley (Leanne) and their children; great-grandchildren, Katie, Grace, Gage, Jasmyne, Gillian, Tanner E, Tanner A, Christopher J, Jaiden, Lucus, Haven Rain, Summer, Haven Matthew, Sawyer, Aden and Emmah; and great-great-grandchildren, Jolene and Evelyn.
