Mrs. Glenda Ann Simpson Lowe

Funeral Service for Mrs. Glenda Ann Simpson Lowe, 89, of Dadeville, Alabama, will be Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 11:00 am at Sardis Church. Rev. Stephen King will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sardis Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Langley Funeral Home.
Glenda Simpson Lowe, 89, passed away peacefully in her home on August 24, 2025.
Born with a love for family, tradition, and service, Glenda lived a life marked by devotion to others. She attended Auburn University, then known as Alabama Polytechnic Institute, where she earned an associate's degree in secretarial studies. In 1955 she married her beloved husband, Paul Hamlet Lowe, Sr. In the early years of their marriage, Glenda worked as a secretary, supporting Paul as he completed his education. This week they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage.
In 1975, Glenda and Paul embarked on a new adventure together, opening Millstone Nursery. Soon after, the business expanded into Millstone Nursery and Florist when Glenda left her secretarial position to pursue her true calling as a florist. She found joy in creating arrangements, but even more so in interacting with her customers, many of whom became lifelong friends. Glenda was the face of the business, greeting each customer with warmth and kindness, and building lasting relationships that made Millstone much more than a nursery or florist.
In 2000, Glenda and Paul moved to the Allgood community, where they transitioned their business into Millstone Japanese Maples, continuing their shared love of plants and serving the community in a new way. Together, they built a 50-year legacy with Millstone, leaving behind not only a thriving business but also countless friendships nurtured through it.
Glenda was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and friend. She created a home filled with love, where everyone felt welcome and cared for. Her children's friends often gathered there, finding in Glenda both hospitality and kindness. Many fond memories were made around her table, from home-cooked meals to lunch breaks during band camp year after year. Her deep love for genealogy connected her to her heritage, and she proudly served as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also loved singing in her church choir, lifting her voice in worship and praise.
Her life reflected her values: love of family, faith, and community. She will be remembered as a successful business owner, a nurturing mother, a loyal friend, and a woman who gave generously of her time and heart.
Glenda's legacy will live on in the lives of all who knew her and in the countless ways she touched her community.
She is survived by her son, Paul (Renee) Lowe, Jr.; daughters, Ann (Tim) Schmitz and Julie (Jeff) Duncan; grandchildren, Ashley (Brian) Atkins, Alexius Lowe, Sara Jones, Danielle (Wayne Black) Jones, Christopher (Susan) Jones, Jarred Schmitz, Jonathan Schmitz, Marie Schmitz, Jenna (Brian) LaMendola, Bennett (Caitlin) Duncan, Haley (Parker) Evans. and Isaac Duncan; great-grandchildren, AnaGrace Atkins, Xander Atkins, Oliver Hyde, Daysia Jones, Jaden Black, and Meggan Jones; brother, Phillip (Carole) Simpson; and sister-in-law, Laney Simpson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Audrey Simpson; mother, Vernie Elizabeth Waldrop Simpson; husband, Paul Hamlet Lowe, Sr.; and brother, Harold Simpson.
