Glenetta (Ella) Shaw, age 88, was born on August 14, 1936, and entered eternal rest on May 26, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Glenetta was preceded in death by her great-aunt, Betty (Bebe) Harrison; William Charles Shaw (Dada); her two daughters, Cynthia Shaw Satterfield and Deborah McKissack; her mother, Mary Buford; her father James (Poochie) Harrison; her sister, Norma Jean Dockery; her brother, Harold Adams; three grandchildren, Lashanandra (Kia), Derrick, and Thomas; her great-grandson, Cameron.She attended Nashville public schools and worked in textile manufacturing at the historic May Hosiery Mill for many years. Later, she served in the hospitality industry in downtown Nashville, where she eventually retired.
Glenetta leaves to cherish her memory, a very devoted and dear friend, Jerry Stockard; her brother, Kenneth (Tiger) Keel; devoted daughters Sherron Shaw, Regina (Adesina) Shaw, and Denise (Donnie) Coleman; devoted grandchildren, Andrea (Gerald) Hamlett, Rachel Birdsong, Latania Shaw, and Shawnta Shaw; eight grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
